I was actually thinking of how to celebrate 3 persons birthdays at one go (being cheapskate here) and someone had suggested a picnic.

it's your life, you have the right to control what you want it to be.

so come on, we ARE ready and there's nothing to be afraid of tomorrow.

still remember the first siannren outing to pasir ris beach on 8th Aug last year..

all those fun times we had as siannrens in the same Cresmic gang,
LA roleplay of Yu-Gi-Oh (oops gavin betrayed >.<) hahaha
and the "TUBAL I CHOOSE YOU!"( or sth liddat)
the first DHS concert tt i ever went to,
GUITAR CONCERT!!
talking abt tt, they having performance @ foyer tmr!!!!!
then we had our crazy hangouts n KFC/Macs treats with weird concoctions.

actually to come and think of it, without all those ups and downs,

it is amazing how our friendship brewed over time.

This might be my last formal post at this blog. Though we'll still be in DHS, it will soon get harder to keep in contact with all of you as we went separate ways and finding our new life to live. But no matter what happen, memories will stay and I must say it had been wonderful being with you all for the past two years. Time flies doesn't it? It feels like as if we all just know each other yesterday.

Below are some pictures which I took on 3rd December 2008, when going back to schol for the last time with Bryan.

We used to stare at the front of the class room, waiting for time to pass ever-so-slowly, sleep when teacher is not watching, copying down notes which we will mostly likely not to flip through again till the exams. Now looking at this empty classroom and blank whiteboard, somehow I feel like having one more day of lesson here, at this place, which we spent the whole of 2008 in. Miss the times which we studied together as a class.

This side of the classroom, the place which all of the SRs"gathered" during the last days of school, when exams were over and we were allowed to sit any place we like. If I wasn't late on the first day after school reopens, I could have been there too. (however it was fun sitting with JK) It isn't really a chance that we can come by everyday, the chance of coming together as SRs, and spend hours of time together.

Mann I like this corner. Had fun calling Mervyn to on and off the lights, and having half of the class to insist on turning on the lights and the other half to insist on turning off them. Tricking the teachers and made them think that there were something wrong with our lights. And its hard to believe that after one whole year, there are still some Cresmicans who havn't figure out which switch is for which light or fan.

The classroom is finally empty, after one year, and the tables and chairs all stacked up. Nobody will be using them for now. The classroom which was always filled with 36 people now deserted. Too many memories about this place to count, too much words about this place to say. It is THIS classroom, THIS school, not any other place, that's our home.

Considering that we spent more time in school than any other place when we are awake, and interacted with our classmates maybe even more than we interacted with our family members, I would say this is where we belong.

And this, the place where it all started. 1C classroom, with our class flag pole leaning against the door, being where it belong during the last few hours of its lifespan, being at where it was "born", being at its home. Who wouldn't want to be at where you truly belong when time is up?

Remembering the time when we first come together as a class, everyone seems to be like strangers, didn't know each other, not sure who will become your friends and who might become your enemies. Some people seem to be so open and lively, but some seems to be quiet and distant. However, what we truly know is, this is the people we are going to be with for the next two years, no matter whether we like them or not.

But just through three days of oreintation, we had unknowingly become one family. Soon after that, we learnt how to work together, how to deal with each other, and how to be "36 people, 1 identity" Series after series of events happen after we officially become Cresmicans, the first class gathering at Shaun's house, class outing at ice skating, and many other more, which bond us more than ever. Then there's level camp. Which I think 'what doesn't break you makes you stronger" and "true commradship is developed through overcoming obstacles together, and not just enjoying the good time together"

Before we know it, we were promoted to sec2. Then, an interesting classmate arrives, by the name of Junkai. Had trouble dealing with him, pulled Mr Tan down and made him busy over our class spirit. Some people were emotionally hurt, some people began to outcast him, some people wanted to help him get into this class but failed. It might be the biggest obstacle we faced during these two years.

But now, after all of it were finally over, and we would be going different classes next year, all these somehow seems memoriable to me. To those who were hurt by him, do you remember who were there when you were feeling depressed because of him? If not for him, would you be able to feel the care and concern of your friends when you needed them? Will you be able to truly understand that there's all kinds of people in this world, and hence able to face people who are like him when you grow up? For those who outcasted him, would you be able to learn how to separate yourself from certain person so that you can protect yourself if you hadn't had a first hand experience? And for those who tried to help him, there's no reason that you should be discouraged from helping other people in the future, as he was one of the harder cases to dealt with. And I believe that your efforts had helped the rest of the class.

For the above reasons, I want to thank Junkai. For being such a unique classmate, for allowing us to prepare for the worst when we grow up and step into society, and not living in the illusion that "everyone is kind and the world is perfect" anymore.

I'll also miss all the teachers, especially Mr Tan. Thanks for being there to guide us, to help us bond when we were still sec1. Never before had I met a teacher who spend so much effort just to organise outings, and focusing so mcon his students and always wanting to help them develop to their fullest. Even sacrificing his personal life and only marrying when we were promoted to sec2 and could take care of ourselves. Wishing him good time with his wife and the future of his teaching carrer.

It had being wonderful being with all of you for the past two years. Best wishes to whatever you plan to do in the future, and keep in touch.

Venue: Start at East Coast, End at Vivo City

Meet at East Coast 7-eleven at 10am, rent bike and cycle till around 1pm, eat lunch till around 2pm, then go bowling for around one hour till 3pm. Travel to Vivo City to watch "The Coffin" at GV, and eat dinner. Some slacking around and sunset watching after dinner (I don't know where, ask xy) Latest will end at around 8pm.

People expected to be there: All except Gavin. (Gavin please notify us if you can come)

Approx. money needed: $37 (max.) + some spare money in case feel like going to arcade/shopping etc.

Anyone who can't make it, or has any suggestions, please tag at the tagboard. I'll check it daily.

First of all, the original post was just some random crap. But after seeing that Yichen is so interested, I'm posting a reply.
The original post was about the liars paradox, where the statements stated is both true and false, which makes them untrue but yet, not altogether correct.
I went to read up on the liars paradox after solving A usual Day unusual school. If you didn't fail history questions on comparing, you would have probably realised that both of them are solved using the same tactic, where you assume that one of the statements is correct, and then try to figure out which one is right or wrong.
In "A usual Day unusual school", we realised that often, the statements contradict each other, thus we cannot figure out which statement is true and which statement is false, at times like these, when we can only know that one is a brave and one is a bright, this is where liar paradoxes happen.
So by posting the original post, i just wanted to show the lairs paradox, and how it played a part in the mystery of"A usual Day unusual school".
By the way Yichen, what did you mean that i lost? Did i join a competition or something?

The first statement: the statement is negative, but when refering it to the post title, the statement is positive. By saying something positive negative, the statement is a false. But when refering to the post title, it becomes positive again.

Depending on how you look at the sentence structure, the statement's meaning can go in an infinity number of cycles OR it is actually referring to something positive, and by saying it negative it proves the title correct.

The second statement: Referring this to the post title, this statement is actually saying that the next sentence is wrong.

The third statement: Since from the second statement we already know that this statement is wrong, we can hence say that "The previous statement is true".

Ever feel that you are lagging in life? Or having no motivation to do anything at all? Here is the "perfect" guide for you!

First, let's study why we get our life screwed. The following are the possible reasons:
1. Tired to do anything
2. Something keep on nudging your mind, making it hard to concentrate
3. You also don't know why

Well, sometimes we would try to unscrew our life, but in most cases we would fail to do that and end up being more discouraged. We must know that the key to unscrew something, is to find out how it was screwed in the first place. It's like when opening a door, you need to know where is the key hole in order to open it.

There's many ways to find how your life got screwed. The following are some ways I thought of
1. Stop doing whatever you are doing, get into a comfortable position and start thinking about what you had being doing for the past few days.
2. Find help from a professional adult who is kind enough to explain to you properly, and not by nagging, which would make you even more frustrated, and hence even more screwed.

Don't worry if you still can't find why life is screwed, as you can always use pure force such as bombing the door open when trying to open a door. However, it is still better to find the reason. After you have find the reason of why life is screwed, it's time to unscrew it. (Time to take action). The key to this step is to concentrate on what your are doing, and focus on it fully. This is also the hardest step. However, after this step you can finally unscrew yourself.

There are many ways to concentrate, and many people has their own ways. The following is just a few suggestions:
1. Listen to music- Pros: This will prevent you from getting bored, and hence easier to concentrate. Cons: the music source itself might be a distraction

2. Set yourself in a completely silent environment- Pros: Let you mind be in peace, and fully concentrate on whatever you are doing. Cons: For some people, it's hard to rest their minds and when it's completely silent, their mind may wander off to think of things to do

3. Set yourself in an environment as noisy as possible- This is quite the same as point 1, but this is a more extreme version. Pros: This will let your restless mind settle. Cons: you migt get distracted by the surroundings, or might find it too noisy to concentrate.

4. Reward yourself after you completed what you are doing- Pros: This will motivate you to do what you are doing, and hence concentrate on it. Cons: You might go get the reward even before you finished what you are doing, and end up lossing concentration again.

After you have successfully completed what you are supposed to do, you will find that your life is easier, and unscrewed, as you had done what you should do and have lessened your burden. Always remember that as time goes by, there will be more things happening, and more things for you to do.

now for something useful..... Someone posted that since there is a square root, we have to reject the negative. so by adding the absolute sign into our equation, we can reject the negative. so our equation becomes:"Grils = l [squareroot(evil)]squared l"(please write this down so you can see it more clearly). Note: l-2l is 2. we call 2 the absolute value of -2. After simplifying our equation, we get grils equals l evil l. which in written form, is absolute value of evil, so girls equals ABSOLUTE EVIL.

But before i got the joke, i realised, that there is actually no need to reject negative( yes here is the useful part). because, anything squared must be a positive number. We may argue that the equation could be written as: "squareroot of l (evil2) l ". thus, square root of evil squared has the need to reject negative. so we get "Girls = square root of absolute 2 (-2 or 2)" thus after we simplify the whole thing, we still get girls = absolute evil.

but again, when we do not add the absolute, the eqation still stands, as "square root of -evil2" will not be a integer, as only a positve number can be squared.so sadly, the absolute joke doesnt work.

so..... i decided to do an analysis on who actually is a brave and who actually is a bright. this analysis would not have been complete with the great help of Yi chen (who actually solved the ones which i do not know. he also actually solved the puzzle in the end). so thanks alot to Yi chen. anyone who is interested, go to the link and read the play. its real interesting and will bring sense to whatever im abt to say."

And here's the real story: now we see from scene 3 that Mr. Bumbleton is actually a brave, by stating that "you have not yet decided which one you will be" when obviously he actually did. so...back to scene 1, we realise that Ms. smart is a bright, since mr. bumbleton, the liar, stated that she lied.

Now we figured out the basics, lets move on to analysing the charaters in scene 2. Ms. Boss is obviously a Brave.
now we move on from desk to desk.
jan and mikes are brights. you can see as if jan was a brave, her sentence would have translated: "Brights would always say that they r braves", which make no sense at all. mike just sorts of repeats what jan says, so he is actually a bright too.

Pat and Denise can be bright and braves. There's actually no way we can say which is which. The key point is that they two cannot be the same. Since Pat said that Denise is a Brave, and if Pat is a bright, Denise would be a brave and if Pat is a brave, he will accuse Denise to be a brave while she is not. In any case they must be of different kinds and hence this pair will not affect the final count there's no need to find out which is which.

John and Emily. this one is quite easy. assume that john is a bright. what he said would be perfectly true. but is he was a brave, and emily can be anything else (bright or brave), the whole thing would not make sense.

Billy must be a bright here. if billy was a brave, then there would 2 braves or no braves at all, since he lied that "Exactly one of us is a Brave". but if there are no braves at all, billy himself is a brave. if there are 2 braves all together, susan wouldnt be saying that billy is a brave, cause then she would be telling the truth. so the only explanation is that billy is a bright. susan is lying about billy is being a brave, so she is a brave.

Pete and Sandra gave very little information, but i managed to guess it in the end. You see, that pete is a brave because he said "OK, OK, then, we're both Braves. Now leave us alone! ". if he was a bright, he would have told the truth, that he is a bright. so this shows that he is a brave. But if they are both braves, pete would be telling the truth. So now the only logical explanation left is that pete lied about both of them being braves, which leaves Sandra a bright.

Alice might be a brave or a bright, but Dan must be a bright. If Alice is a bright, then her first sentence would be true, which makes Dan a bright as well. If she is a brave, it means that they are of different types and since she is the brave, Dan will still be a bright. There's no way that we can knoe if Alice is bright or brave though.

Mark and Pam can be anything. Since they both claim to be brights. A bright would claim to be a bright as it is the truth. A brave would also claim to be a bright since braves always lies.

Tonny is a bright, while Becky is a brave. If Tonny was a brave, the fact would be that both of them are braves, because he lied about Becky being the only brave. But if both are braves, then Susan will not say that Tonny is a brave bacause by saying so, she would be telling the truth. So, the couclusion is that Tonny was telling the truth, and Becky is a brave.

Tom and Connie is pretty interesting. the first 4 questions dont tell much, as both braves and brights would have had the same answer. but from the last question, is somebody lying, we can see that tom is inconsistent with his answers. since braves lie to everything, and we assume that tom was a brave, tom would have lied that his partner is a brave in the 3rd question. and at the 4th question, there IS somebody lying (that is tom himself), so he has to lie that no one was lying, thus the contradiction in tom's answers. connie is a bright as her answers dont contradict and makes sense with all the things tom said(or lied about).

That's the character evaluation of the whole story. Here's the list:

Ms Smart: bright

Case one: no matter if Alice is a bright of brave, 9 brights and 11 braves cant become 11 brights and 10 braves. Terry got the answer wrong, and become a brave.

Case two: Alice is a bright, making 10 brights and 10 braves to be 11 brights and 10 braves. Terry got the answer correct, and he become a bright.

Case three: Alice is a brave, making 11 brights and 9 braves to be 11 brights and 10 braves. Terry got the answer correct, and he become a bright.

To make the whole puzzle seem reasonable and let me and Wang Cong have a sense of accomplishment, we say that Terry is a bright. Yeah that's it, we solved it.
